How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the washer before attempting to manually release the lid lock.
- Step 1 – Wait for automatic release: After canceling a cycle, wait several minutes to allow the control to attempt an unlock and for any internal delays to expire.
- Step 2 – Manual release: With power disconnected, access the lid lock from under the top panel. Most Roper locks have a manual release tab you can pull to open the lid.
- Step 3 – Inspect lock and wiring: Check for broken plastic parts, signs of overheating, or loose connectors. Repair wiring as needed.
- Step 4 – Test after reset: Restore power and run a short cycle to see if the lock now operates correctly.
If the lid continues to fail to unlock, replace the lid lock assembly. If a new lock does not resolve the issue, the main control may be defective.
