Safety First: Unplug the washer before attempting to manually release the lid lock.

Step 1 – Wait for automatic release: After canceling a cycle, wait several minutes to allow the control to attempt an unlock and for any internal delays to expire.
Step 2 – Manual release: With power disconnected, access the lid lock from under the top panel. Most Roper locks have a manual release tab you can pull to open the lid.
Step 3 – Inspect lock and wiring: Check for broken plastic parts, signs of overheating, or loose connectors. Repair wiring as needed.
Step 4 – Test after reset: Restore power and run a short cycle to see if the lock now operates correctly.

If the lid continues to fail to unlock, replace the lid lock assembly. If a new lock does not resolve the issue, the main control may be defective.

Washer displays F5E2 and the lid remains locked at the end of the cycle or will not unlock when cancel is pressed.
