Possible Causes

Lid not detected as closed, Faulty lid switch or lock, Start button failure, Control board input fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Do not bypass safety interlocks for normal use. Unplug the washer before testing switches.

  • Step 1 – Confirm lid closure: Ensure the lid is fully closed and the strike engages the lock.
  • Step 2 – Check for error lights: Some models flash a lid lock or other indicator if the lid is not detected. Address any lid lock issues first.
  • Step 3 – Try different cycles: Select another cycle and press Start to rule out a specific cycle button issue.
  • Step 4 – Test lid switch (advanced): With power disconnected, test continuity of the lid switch/lock when the lid is closed. Replace if it does not change state.

If the lid switch is good and the UI responds but Start still does nothing, the main control or user interface may be defective.
