Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose or standpipe, Foreign object in Samsung drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter—have towels and a shallow pan ready.

  • Access drain filter: Open the small access door at the front bottom of the washer. Pull out the emergency drain hose (if present) and drain water into a pan.
  • Clean filter: Unscrew the drain pump filter cap slowly. Remove lint, coins, buttons, and debris. Check inside the pump cavity for obstructions and gently spin the impeller.
  • Inspect drain hose: Ensure the main drain hose at the back is not kinked or clogged. Remove from standpipe and flush with water if needed.
  • Test drain: Reinstall filter securely, restore power, and run a drain/spin cycle.
  • If still not draining: The drain pump motor may be burned out or jammed. Replacement requires removing the front or rear panel (model dependent), disconnecting wiring and hoses, and installing a new Samsung drain pump assembly.
