Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer from mains power and turn off the water supply before removing any panels.
Steps to check and address E01:
- Inspect the door and latch: Open and close the door firmly. Check that the metal latch hook on the door is not bent or loose and that the door closes flush with the front panel.
- Check for obstructions: Look for clothing, detergent residue, or foreign objects around the door seal and latch area that may prevent full closure.
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and try a short cycle. Sometimes the control module will clear a temporary lock error.
- Access the door lock assembly: Remove the front door seal clamp (spring band) and gently pull back the seal to access the door lock on the cabinet. Verify the wiring connector is fully seated and not burnt or loose.
- Test the door lock: With a multimeter (power still disconnected), check continuity across the lock terminals according to a Siemens service diagram. If the lock coil is open or readings are out of spec, replace the door lock assembly.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the door seal and clamp carefully to avoid leaks, then run a rinse or quick wash to confirm the error is cleared.
When to call a technician: If the door lock tests good but E01 persists, the main control module (PCB) may have a failed relay or triac and should be diagnosed by a qualified Siemens technician.
