Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Be aware that sharp edges exist inside the cabinet.
Steps to check and address E06:
- Access the motor: Remove the rear panel. The drive motor is mounted under the drum with a belt to the pulley.
- Inspect wiring: Check the motor plug and wiring harness for loose connections, corrosion, or damage.
- Check carbon brushes (if fitted): On many Siemens brushed motors, remove the brush holders and inspect brush length. If brushes are worn below manufacturer spec, replace both brushes as a set.
- Test tachometer coil: With a multimeter, measure resistance of the tach coil at the motor. If open circuit or very high resistance, the motor assembly or tach sensor must be replaced.
- Check belt and drum movement: Ensure the belt is intact and the drum turns freely by hand without binding.
When to call a technician: If the motor and tach test good, the motor control circuitry on the main PCB may be defective and requires professional diagnosis.
