• Check drum movement: Open the door and rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. Grinding, scraping, or stiffness suggests bearing or foreign object issues.
• Inspect for foreign objects: Shine a light through drum holes to look for bra wires, screws, or other items trapped between drum and tub. These may require removing the heater or sump hose to extract.
• Check the drive belt and pulley: Remove the rear panel. Verify the belt is correctly seated and not shredded. Ensure the pulley bolt is tight and the pulley is not cracked.
• Test the motor: With power off, disconnect the motor plug and check for obvious burning or smell. Measure winding resistance according to Siemens specs. Replace the motor if windings are open or shorted.
