Possible Causes

Partially scaled heating element, Incorrect water level due to pressure switch issues, NTC sensor drift, Low supply voltage affecting heater performance

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer before testing electrical components.

Steps to check and address E12:

  • Run a maintenance wash: Run a 90 °C empty cycle with a descaling agent suitable for washing machines to remove limescale from the heater and tub.
  • Check water level: Ensure the machine is not underfilling (see E04 checks for pressure hose and switch).
  • Test heater and NTC: As in E05, verify heater resistance and NTC sensor values. Replace any component out of spec.

When to call a technician: Persistent E12 after descaling and component checks suggests a control module calibration or fault that should be handled by Siemens service.
