Washer displays E13 and may stop; sometimes associated with water in base tray
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and close the water tap immediately to prevent flooding.
Steps to check and address E13:
- Check for visible leaks: Look around and under the machine for water. If the base tray is full, carefully tilt the machine slightly (with help) to drain water from the base onto towels.
- Inspect AquaStop hose: If your Siemens washer has an AquaStop inlet hose, check the hose casing and connections for leaks or damage. Replace the AquaStop hose if compromised.
- Remove panels and inspect: With power off, remove the rear or side panels to inspect internal hoses, pump, and tub seals for drips or mineral trails.
- Check float switch: In the base tray, ensure the float switch moves freely and is not stuck by debris. Dry the tray completely.
When to call a technician: If you cannot locate the leak source, or if the outer tub or main seals are leaking, professional repair is strongly recommended.
