Possible Causes
Stuck door lock mechanism, Broken door handle or latch, Faulty door lock solenoid, Control board not sending unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer. Do not force the door open with tools that can damage the seal or glass.
- 1. Wait and power reset: Allow several minutes after cycle end. Then unplug the washer for 5 minutes and plug back in to attempt a reset.
- 2. Emergency release: Many Speed Queen front-loaders have a manual door lock release accessible behind the lower front panel or boot. Pull the release tab to open the door.
- 3. Inspect latch and handle: Check for broken plastic parts that may prevent unlocking. Replace the door handle or latch if damaged.
- 4. Replace door lock: If the lock remains stuck or does not respond to commands, replace the door lock assembly.
- 5. Control board: Persistent E dU with a new lock may indicate a control board fault; this is typically a technician-level repair.
