Possible Causes
Partial clog in drain hose, Build-up in tub-to-pump hose, Weak drain pump, Standpipe height or siphoning issues
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer before working on the drain system.
- 1. Verify installation: Ensure the drain hose height meets Speed Queen specifications (typically 30–96 inches). A hose that is too low can cause siphoning and drain errors.
- 2. Flush drain hose: Remove the drain hose from the standpipe and washer. Run water through it with a garden hose to clear lint or sludge.
- 3. Inspect tub-to-pump hose: Remove and check for lint mats or small garments partially blocking flow.
- 4. Evaluate pump performance: During a drain cycle, listen for the pump. A loud humming with poor water movement suggests a weak pump. Replace the drain pump if performance is poor.
- 5. Check home drain: A slow household drain can cause backup. Ensure the standpipe is clear.
