Possible Causes
Load not distributed evenly, Mixed heavy and light items, Worn suspension rods or springs, Faulty out-of-balance switch or sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not reach into a spinning tub. Wait until the drum stops completely.
- 1. Redistribute load: Open the lid when safe. Separate heavy items (like towels or blankets) and rearrange them evenly around the tub. Remove some items if the washer is overloaded.
- 2. Run spin again: Close the lid and restart the spin cycle. If UE clears, the issue was load-related.
- 3. Inspect suspension: If UE occurs frequently with normal loads, unplug the washer and remove the front or rear panel. Check suspension rods, springs, and dampers for wear, oil leakage, or broken components. Replace as needed.
- 4. Check out-of-balance switch: Some Speed Queen models use a mechanical OOB switch. Verify it is securely mounted and the wiring is intact.
- 5. Level the washer: Use a level to ensure the washer is not tilted. Adjust leveling feet and lock them in place.
