Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Obstructed drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.
- Clean pump filter: Locate the pump filter flap at the front bottom. Open it, use the emergency drain hose if fitted to empty water, then unscrew the filter. Remove coins, lint, and debris. Check that the impeller spins freely.
- Inspect drain hose: Check the hose from the pump to the standpipe or sink for kinks, crushing, or blockage. Detach and flush it through with water if necessary.
- Check for foreign objects: Shine a torch into the pump housing and gently feel for bra wires, buttons, or other obstructions around the impeller. Remove carefully with pliers.
- Test pump operation: After reassembly, run a drain/spin cycle. If you hear no pump noise or only a humming sound and no water movement, the pump motor is likely faulty and should be replaced.
If E20 persists with a clear filter and hose, the wiring to the pump or the control board triac may be defective and should be checked by a technician.
