Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Faulty door interlock, Broken door latch hook, Wiring fault between lock and PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer before removing any panels.
- Check door closure: Ensure no clothing is trapped in the door seal and that the door is firmly pushed closed until it clicks.
- Inspect latch hook: Examine the metal or plastic door hook for damage or misalignment. Replace if bent or broken.
- Test door lock: Remove the front retaining band of the door seal and pull the seal back to access the door lock. Check the connector is firmly seated. If the lock shows burn marks or rattles internally, replace the door lock assembly.
- Check wiring: Trace the harness from the lock to the control board for damage and repair as needed.
If E40 remains after replacing the lock and verifying wiring, the main control board may not be energizing the lock and should be checked by a technician.
