Possible Causes

Worn carbon brushes (on brushed motors), Faulty motor tachometer, Loose motor connector, Defective motor control circuit on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the washer and lay it back or remove the rear panel to access the motor. Beware of sharp edges.

  • Check drive belt: Confirm the belt is intact and correctly tensioned between the motor pulley and drum pulley.
  • Inspect motor brushes: On brushed Zanussi motors, remove the brushes and check their length. If they are worn below about 1 cm, replace both brushes with genuine parts.
  • Check tachometer: Inspect the small sensor on the rear of the motor for damage or loose fit. Ensure its connector is secure.
  • Test motor windings: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the motor windings. Replace the motor if open or shorted.

If mechanical and motor components are sound, E50 may indicate a faulty motor control circuit on the main PCB, requiring professional replacement.
