Possible Causes

Failed heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose heater wiring, Defective heater relay on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the washer and ensure the drum is cool before working on the heater.

  • Access heater: On many Zanussi models, the heater is located at the rear of the tub, accessible from the rear panel. Disconnect the wiring and earth connection.
  • Test element: Measure resistance across the heater terminals. A typical value is 20–30 Ω; infinite resistance indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
  • Check for earth leakage: Measure resistance between each heater terminal and earth. Any low resistance suggests insulation failure; replace the heater.
  • Test NTC sensor: Measure the sensor resistance and compare with specifications. Replace if out of range.

If the heater and NTC are good, the control board heater relay or triac may be faulty and should be replaced by a technician.
