Possible Causes
Failed ACV DHW recirculation pump, Stuck non-return valve, Incorrect timer or control settings, Air lock in recirculation line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow pipes to cool before handling. Isolate power to the recirculation pump.
- 1. Check pump operation: Verify that the DHW recirculation pump runs according to schedule or demand. Listen for operation and feel for vibration.
- 2. Timer/settings: Confirm that any time clocks or controllers for the recirculation pump are correctly set and not in OFF mode.
- 3. Non-return valve: Inspect and, if necessary, replace the check valve in the recirculation line to ensure correct flow direction.
- 4. Bleed air: Open high-point vents or temporarily crack a union to release trapped air, then retighten.
If the pump is seized or noisy, replace it with an ACV-approved DHW recirculation pump.
