Possible Causes
Shorted ACV return NTC sensor, Sensor not fully inserted in pocket causing false readings, Wiring short to ground, Control board analog input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the system to cool if actual temperatures are high. Isolate power before testing.
- 1. Confirm actual temperature: Touch the return pipe carefully (or use an infrared thermometer). If it is only warm but the display shows very high temperature, the sensor is likely faulty.
- 2. Inspect sensor installation: Ensure the ACV return NTC is fully inserted into its pocket and secured with the clip or bracket. A loose sensor can give erratic readings.
- 3. Wiring check: Look for crushed or abraded cable where it passes through grommets or behind panels. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- 4. Resistance measurement: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. A very low resistance (near 0 Ω) at room temperature indicates a shorted sensor.
- 5. Replace sensor: Fit a new ACV return NTC sensor and retest. Clear the error by power cycling if necessary.
If the error remains with a new sensor and good wiring, the control board may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
