Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Gas components must only be serviced by licensed gas technicians. Do not attempt to open or adjust the gas valve yourself.
- 1. Check gas supply: Confirm that the main gas cock and any intermediate valves are open and that other gas appliances work normally.
- 2. Visual inspection: With power off, inspect the ACV gas valve and wiring harness. Look for loose plugs, damaged insulation, or signs of overheating.
- 3. Reseat connectors: Firmly reconnect the gas valve plug at both the valve and the control board.
- 4. Reset and test: Restore power and attempt a restart. If E09 reappears, do not continue cycling the unit.
- 5. Professional testing: A technician should measure coil resistance, verify voltage during ignition, and check gas pressures at the test points. If the valve does not open with correct signals, it must be replaced with the correct ACV gas valve assembly.
Because incorrect gas valve work can cause fire or explosion, replacement should only be done by an ACV-authorized gas technician.
