Possible Causes

Stuck ACV DHW flow switch, Blocked flow turbine sensor, Limescale or debris in DHW inlet filter, Faulty flow sensor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Close water supply and relieve pressure before opening any water connections.

  • 1. Check DHW demand: Open a hot water tap fully. The unit should detect flow and start. If not, suspect the flow sensor.
  • 2. Clean inlet filter: Close the cold water isolation valve to the ACV heater. Remove and clean the inlet filter/strainer of debris and scale. Refit and test.
  • 3. Inspect flow switch/turbine: On models with a mechanical flow switch, remove and check that the paddle moves freely. On turbine sensors, check for scale or dirt blocking the rotor.
  • 4. Wiring check: Ensure the flow sensor connector is secure on the control board and that the cable is not damaged.
  • 5. Replace sensor: If the sensor is physically damaged or does not change state when water flows, replace it with the correct ACV flow sensor.

After replacement, clear the error by power cycling and verify that DHW starts reliably when taps are opened.
