Possible Causes
Undervoltage from supply, Loose power connections, Failing internal power supply on control board, Shared circuit overload
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power before inspecting wiring.
- Check circuit: Ensure the Alpha water heater is on a dedicated circuit of the correct amperage. Remove any non-approved loads from the circuit.
- Tighten connections: Inspect the line and neutral connections at the heater’s junction box or terminal block. Tighten any loose screws.
- Measure voltage: With a multimeter (and only if you are trained), verify that supply voltage is within the range specified on the Alpha rating plate.
- Monitor operation: If E16 occurs during heavy household loads, consult an electrician to evaluate the home’s electrical system.
If supply voltage is correct but E16 persists, the internal power supply on the control board may be failing and should be replaced by a technician.
