Possible Causes
Hardened or cracked rubber gasket, Improperly tightened flange bolts, Corrosion around flange opening, Incorrect or reused gasket during previous service
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and close the cold water supply. Allow the tank to cool.
- Drain below flange level: Connect a hose to the drain valve and drain enough water so the level is below the element flange.
- Remove element flange: Disconnect wiring (label wires), then remove the flange bolts or unscrew the threaded element. Carefully pull out the element and gasket.
- Clean sealing surfaces: Remove old gasket material and limescale from the tank opening and flange with a plastic scraper and cloth.
- Install new gasket: Fit a new OEM Ariston-compatible gasket and reinstall the element, tightening bolts evenly in a crisscross pattern to the specified torque.
- Refill and check: Close the drain, open cold supply, and bleed air from a hot tap. Check for leaks before restoring power.
