Possible Causes

Burned-out immersion heating element, tripped manual reset thermostat, loose wiring at element terminals, failed mechanical thermostat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off the circuit breaker and verify absence of voltage at the heater before opening the access cover.

  • Remove the lower access cover to expose the heating element and thermostat assembly.
  • Press the red reset button on the high-limit thermostat. If it clicks and the heater starts working, monitor for recurrence (which indicates an underlying issue such as scaling).
  • With power still OFF, disconnect the wires from the heating element and measure resistance across the element terminals. A typical 2 kW–3 kW element will read between 15–30 Ω. Infinite resistance indicates a failed element.
  • Inspect and tighten all screw terminals on the thermostat and element.
  • If the element is open, drain the tank below the element level, remove the element flange, and replace it with a genuine Atlantic immersion heating element with new gasket.
  • If the element is good but no power reaches it when the thermostat calls for heat, replace the mechanical thermostat.
