Atlantic water heater makes loud popping or crackling noises during heating.

Safety: Turn off power and allow the water to cool before draining. Close the cold water supply.

• Drain the tank partially or completely via the drain valve.
• Remove the heating element flange and inspect the element for thick limescale deposits.
• Descale the element using a suitable descaling solution or replace it with a new Atlantic heating element if heavily encrusted.
• Rinse the inside of the tank to remove loose scale particles.
• Reassemble with a new gasket, refill, bleed air, and restore power.
• Consider installing a water softener or anti-scale device if your water is very hard.
