Possible Causes
Defective defrost sensor, blocked evaporator coil, fan not running properly, control board defrost logic failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the heat pump module.
- Inspect the evaporator coil for heavy frost or ice buildup. Ensure the fan is operating correctly and that air intake and exhaust are not blocked.
- Check the defrost temperature sensor (often the same as or in addition to the evaporator sensor) for correct placement and secure attachment.
- Measure sensor resistance and compare with Atlantic specifications; replace if faulty.
- Clean the air filter and coil fins to improve airflow.
- If sensors and airflow are correct but E13 persists, the control board may not be managing defrost correctly and should be replaced.
