Excessive Pressure Relief Valve Discharge
Water dripping frequently from the Atlantic water heater safety valve discharge pipe.

Possible Causes
Normal expansion without expansion vessel, faulty safety valve not sealing, excessive mains pressure, scaled valve seat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: The safety valve is a critical protection device. Never block or plug the discharge pipe.
- Determine if dripping occurs only during heating (normal thermal expansion) or continuously.
- If dripping is only during heating and volume is moderate, consider installing an expansion vessel for domestic hot water on the cold inlet as recommended by Atlantic.
- If dripping is continuous, operate the safety valve manually several times to flush debris. If it still leaks, replace the complete Atlantic safety group / pressure relief valve.
- Measure mains pressure; if above the valve rating (typically 7 bar), install or service a pressure reducing valve upstream.
