Possible Causes
Blocked condensate trap or hose, Frozen external condensate pipe, Incorrectly installed condensate line on Baxi condensing water heater, Condensate level sensor fault (if fitted)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power. Condensate is mildly acidic; wear gloves and eye protection.
Steps:
- Check external condensate pipe: Inspect the plastic condensate discharge pipe outside. In cold weather, it may freeze. Thaw gently with warm (not boiling) water and insulate if needed.
- Clean condensate trap: Remove the condensate trap from the base of the Baxi heat exchanger. Empty and rinse it thoroughly. Ensure the internal baffle is clear.
- Check hose routing: Ensure the condensate hose has a continuous fall and no kinks.
Professional: If E13 persists, a technician should check any condensate level sensors and verify correct installation of the condensate system.
