Possible Causes
Unstable gas pressure, Faulty flame ionization electrode, Poor burner grounding, Defective main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch off power and close the gas valve before opening the casing. Work only if you are competent with gas appliances.
- 1. Reset and observe: Reset the heater and watch the sequence. If the burner lights and then goes out within a few seconds, A02 indicates the control is not sensing a stable flame.
- 2. Check gas supply stability: Ensure other gas appliances are not causing pressure drops. If flame appears weak or noisy, call a gas technician to measure pressure at the Beretta water heater.
- 3. Inspect flame ionization electrode: Remove the front cover. Locate the ionization electrode near the burner. Clean it with fine abrasive pad, ensuring it is not bent away from the flame. Replace if cracked or heavily oxidized.
- 4. Verify grounding: Confirm that the appliance is properly earthed and that the burner assembly has a solid metal contact to chassis. Loose ground can cause false flame-loss detection.
- 5. Check wiring harness: Inspect the cable from the ionization electrode to the control board for damage, loose connectors, or moisture.
- 6. Control board test (technician): If electrode and gas supply are correct, a Beretta-trained technician should test the main PCB flame-sensing circuit and replace the control board if defective.
