Possible Causes
Faulty thermocouple, Dirty pilot injector, Weak gas supply to pilot, Faulty gas valve safety magnet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Work on pilot assemblies only if you are familiar with gas safety. Turn off gas before disassembly.
- 1. Clean pilot assembly: Gently clean the pilot burner and injector with a soft brush and compressed air to remove dust and debris.
- 2. Check thermocouple position: Ensure the thermocouple tip is properly in the pilot flame.
- 3. Replace thermocouple: If the pilot lights but goes out when you release the button, the thermocouple may be weak and should be replaced.
- 4. Gas valve test (technician): If a new thermocouple does not solve the issue, the gas valve safety magnet may be faulty and the valve should be replaced.
