Possible Causes
Failed inducer (blower) motor, Seized blower wheel, Faulty blower relay on control board, Loose or burned blower wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off electrical power at the breaker and shut off gas before servicing the blower assembly.
Steps:
- Listen for blower operation: On a call for heat, the blower should start before ignition. If it is silent, hums, or stops quickly, suspect a blower issue.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the access panel and check the blower motor plug and wiring harness for loose connections or signs of overheating.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the blower assembly (following Bradford White instructions). Inspect the blower wheel for debris or binding. Clean and spin by hand; it should rotate freely.
- Test motor: With power off, measure motor winding resistance. With power on (qualified person only), verify correct voltage is reaching the motor. If voltage is present but the motor does not run, replace the blower assembly.
Because this involves combustion air and venting, blower replacement is best performed by a licensed technician.
