How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power. The discharge line can be very hot during operation; allow time to cool.
Steps:
- Locate discharge sensor: Find the sensor attached to the compressor discharge line (small copper tube leaving the compressor).
- Check attachment: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped to the line and insulated as originally installed.
- Inspect wiring: Look for chafed or pinched wires between the sensor and control board. Repair or replace as needed.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare to spec. Replace if out of range.
Persistent E31 after sensor replacement usually indicates a control board issue that should be addressed by a qualified technician.
