Possible Causes
Open or shorted tank thermistor, Damaged sensor harness, Poor sensor contact with tank well, Control board sensor input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow the tank to cool if recently heated.
Steps:
- Locate tank sensor: On hybrid models, the tank sensor is often inserted into a dry well on the side of the tank and connected to the control board via a harness.
- Check seating: Ensure the sensor is fully inserted into the well and secured.
- Inspect harness: Look for damage or loose connectors. Reseat at both ends.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare to Bradford White specs. Replace if readings are abnormal.
Note: If multiple sensors show faults simultaneously, suspect a control board or power quality issue and contact a technician.
