How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power/gas and cold water supply immediately to prevent flooding and electrical hazards.
Steps:
- Confirm source: Remove the burner access door (gas) or lower panel (electric) and inspect. If water is seeping from the tank body or insulation, the tank is failed.
- Drain tank: Connect a hose to the drain valve and drain the tank to stop leakage.
- Plan replacement: The tank is not repairable. Arrange for replacement with a new Bradford White water heater of appropriate size and type.
Do not attempt to weld or patch a leaking tank; it is unsafe and not cost-effective.
