Possible Causes

Defective fan motor, Faulty fan speed sensor (Hall sensor), Loose fan connector, Obstructed fan impeller

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power and gas before removing the front cover.

  • Visual inspection of fan: Locate the combustion fan. Check for signs of overheating, water ingress, or debris in the impeller. Remove any visible obstruction.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the fan's electrical connector is fully seated on the PCB and that the cable is not damaged.
  • Spin test: With power off, gently spin the fan impeller by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If stiff or noisy, the fan bearings may be worn.
  • Live test (qualified person only): Restore power and start a demand. Confirm that the fan starts and reaches speed. If it fails to start or stops intermittently, replace the fan assembly.
  • PCB check: If a new fan does not resolve E08, the PCB fan control circuit may be defective.
