CTC water heater leaks from the top around piping connections
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Loose hot or cold nipple connections, Failed dielectric unions, Cracked plastic fittings, Deteriorated pipe sealant
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and close the cold water supply. Relieve pressure by opening a hot water tap.
Steps to check:
- Inspect the hot and cold water connections at the top of the heater for visible drips.
- Tighten threaded connections slightly with a wrench; do not overtighten plastic fittings.
- If leaking persists, shut off water, disassemble the joint, and reassemble using new dielectric unions or nipples and fresh thread sealant or Teflon tape.
- Replace any cracked plastic fittings with approved metal or high-temperature plastic parts.
