Possible Causes
Dirty flame sensor, Poor burner grounding, Low gas pressure, Faulty gas valve modulation coil
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas before servicing. If you suspect gas supply issues, contact your gas provider.
Steps to check:
- Clean the flame sensor rod with fine emery cloth to remove oxidation. Do not sand excessively.
- Verify that the burner assembly and flame sensor bracket have a solid ground connection to the chassis.
- Check that the gas shutoff valve is fully open and that other gas appliances are functioning normally.
- Inspect the burner ports for dirt or rust that could cause uneven flame; clean as needed.
- If flame still drops out, the gas valve assembly or control board flame detection circuit may be faulty and should be tested and replaced by a licensed technician.
