Possible Causes

Stuck or scaled flow turbine, Failed Hall-effect flow sensor, Blocked inlet filter screen, Damaged flow sensor wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and close the cold water supply valve. Relieve pressure by opening a hot water tap.

Steps to check:

  • Locate the flow sensor assembly on the cold water inlet of the CTC water heater. It typically contains a small turbine and sensor.
  • Remove the inlet filter screen and clean any debris or scale. Rinse thoroughly and reinstall.
  • Remove the flow sensor body according to the service manual. Inspect the turbine for free rotation; remove scale or debris carefully.
  • Check the electrical connector from the flow sensor to the main control PCB. Reseat the connector and inspect for corrosion.
  • If the turbine is damaged or the sensor does not output pulses (requires a meter or oscilloscope), replace the flow sensor assembly.

Tip: After reassembly, slowly open the inlet valve and purge air from the system before restoring power.
