Safety first: For electric units, turn off the breaker before removing covers. For gas units, close the gas valve if you suspect a leak.

Steps to check:

Verify power at the electrical panel: reset any tripped breakers feeding the CTC water heater.
For gas models, confirm the gas shutoff valve is open and other gas appliances are working.
On electric models, remove element access covers and test each heating element for continuity. Replace any failed elements.
Check the high-limit reset button on the thermostat or control panel and reset if tripped.
If power, elements, and gas supply are all good, the main control PCB or internal relays may be faulty and require replacement by a technician.
