E12 error; unit intermittently shuts down under high demand
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Danger: Work on mains supply only if you are qualified. Otherwise, call an electrician.
- Check supply connections: With power off, inspect the incoming supply terminals in the Dimplex heater for tightness and signs of overheating. Tighten to specified torque.
- Measure voltage: With a multimeter and appropriate safety precautions, measure voltage at the unit while it is operating. Compare to the rating plate (e.g., 230–240 V). Significant deviation may trigger E12.
- Inspect wiring size: Ensure the cable size meets Dimplex installation requirements for the heater's kW rating and run length.
Action: If supply issues are found, have a licensed electrician correct them. If supply is stable but E12 persists, the control PCB voltage sensing circuit may be faulty.
