Possible Causes
Failed flange gasket, loose flange bolts, corroded tank around flange opening, leaking magnesium anode port, cracked weld seam
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power and close the cold water supply valve. Allow the water to cool before working.
Steps:
- Remove the lower cover to locate the exact source of the leak.
- If the leak is around the heating flange, drain the tank below flange level using the drain valve.
- Loosen and remove the flange bolts, then carefully remove the flange assembly.
- Inspect the flange gasket; replace it with a new Drazice gasket. Clean the mating surfaces on the tank and flange.
- Check for corrosion or pitting on the tank opening. If severe, the tank may be beyond repair and require replacement.
- Reinstall the flange with the new gasket, tightening bolts evenly in a criss-cross pattern.
- Check the magnesium anode port and any inspection hatches for leaks; replace their gaskets if needed.
- Refill the tank, check for leaks, and only then restore power.
