Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between display and main board, Failed display/control keypad board, Moisture intrusion into front panel, Control board communication driver fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF power at the breaker before removing the front cover or display panel.

  • Check display connections: Remove the front cover or display bezel to access the user interface board. Reseat the ribbon cable or harness connecting it to the main control board.
  • Inspect for moisture: Look for condensation, water streaks, or corrosion on the display PCB. If moisture is present, dry the area thoroughly and correct any source of leaks or high humidity.
  • Visual inspection: Check the display board for cracked solder joints, burned components, or physical damage.
  • Test after reseating: Restore power and see if the E9 code clears and the buttons/knob respond normally.
  • Replace UI board if needed: If E9 persists and the main board appears normal, replace the user interface/display board assembly.
  • Escalation: If a new UI board does not resolve E9, the main control board communication circuitry may be defective and require replacement.
