Possible Causes
Faulty outlet temperature sensor, Stuck heating element relay/triac, Miscalibrated control board, Cross-connection with cold water in plumbing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Risk of scalding. Lower the set temperature immediately and test carefully.
- Verify setpoint: Confirm the EcoSmart set temperature is not accidentally set too high.
- Check for cross-connection: Ensure there is no mixing valve or plumbing cross-connection that could cause unpredictable mixing.
- Inspect outlet sensor: With power OFF, check the outlet thermistor and wiring for damage or loose connections. Replace if suspect.
- Monitor behavior: If the unit continues heating when there is no flow or overshoots dramatically, a stuck relay/triac or control board fault is likely. Discontinue use and have the board inspected/replaced.
