EcoSmart
Temperature Modulation / Flow Instability
Water temperature fluctuates between hot and cold during a shower.
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Flow rate varying due to pressure-balancing shower valve, Inconsistent supply pressure, Partially clogged inlet filter, Faulty flow sensor readings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks; turn OFF power only if opening the unit.
- Clean inlet filter: Shut off water, remove the inlet filter screen at the EcoSmart cold inlet, clean debris, and reinstall.
- Check shower valve: Pressure-balancing or thermostatic mixing valves can cause rapid flow changes. Test with a simple two-handle faucet or a different shower to see if the issue persists.
- Stabilize flow: Avoid running multiple fixtures that cause large pressure swings while showering.
- Inspect flow sensor: If fluctuations persist, turn OFF power, open the unit, and clean the flow sensor turbine of scale or debris.
- Sensor replacement: Replace the flow sensor assembly if erratic readings continue.
