Possible Causes

Shorted heating element, Shorted triac or power module on control board, Damaged wiring to elements, Incorrect supply voltage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Critical safety: This fault involves high-current components. Turn OFF the breaker and verify power is off. Do not work on live circuits.

Basic checks:

  • Remove the front cover of the Eemax heater.
  • Visually inspect the heating elements and wiring for burn marks, melted insulation, or loose connections at terminals.
  • Disconnect power leads from each heating element. Use a multimeter to measure resistance between each element terminal and ground. Any reading near 0 Ω to ground indicates a shorted element.
  • Measure resistance across each element's terminals; compare to Eemax specifications. A very low resistance or open circuit indicates a failed element.
  • If an element is shorted or open, replace the affected Eemax heating element and any damaged wiring.
  • If elements test good, the triac/power module on the control board may be shorted. Look for burned spots or cracked components on the board.
  • Do not attempt board-level repair unless qualified; replace the entire control board assembly if it is suspect.
  • After repairs, reassemble, restore power, and test with a hot water tap while monitoring for abnormal noises or smells.

If you are not comfortable testing high-voltage components, contact a licensed technician.
