Possible Causes

Elements stuck on due to failed triac, High ambient temperature with poor ventilation, Control board not shutting off power to elements

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Burn and fire hazard: Turn OFF power at the breaker immediately.

Steps:

  • With power OFF, remove the cover and check if heating elements show signs of continuous operation (discoloration, very hot to touch after cooling period).
  • Inspect the control board triacs or relays for signs of damage or welding.
  • If elements are being energized when there is no flow, the control board is likely defective and must be replaced.
  • Ensure the unit has adequate clearance and ventilation per Eemax installation instructions.

Do not operate the heater until the cause of overheating is corrected.
