Possible Causes
Temperature setpoint too high, Faulty outlet thermistor reading low, Stuck heating element relay/triac, Scale causing localized overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Scalding hazard: Turn OFF power and allow the unit to cool before servicing. Use caution when testing hot water.
Steps:
- Lower the temperature setpoint on the Eemax display to a safe level (e.g., 120°F / 49°C) and test again.
- Remove the cover and inspect the outlet thermistor for secure mounting and intact wiring. Replace if damaged or out of spec.
- Descale the heat exchanger and elements to eliminate hot spots caused by mineral buildup.
- If water remains excessively hot even at low setpoints, the control board may be failing to modulate or a triac may be stuck on. Replace the main control board.
Verify outlet temperature with a thermometer and adjust setpoint as needed after repairs.
