NTC Temperature Sensor Failure or Disconnection
Eldom digital water heater shows E02 and stops heating; water remains cold or lukewarm.

Possible Causes
Open-circuit NTC sensor, Shorted NTC sensor, Loose or corroded sensor connector on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker and confirm with a tester. Do not work on live circuits.
Steps to diagnose E02:
- Locate the NTC sensor: On Eldom digital heaters, the NTC temperature probe is usually inserted into a dry well on the tank or integrated into the flange assembly near the heating element.
- Check the connector: Gently unplug and replug the NTC connector at the control board and at the sensor end (if accessible). Look for corrosion, bent pins, or broken wires.
- Measure sensor resistance: Disconnect the NTC from the board. With a multimeter on Ω, measure across the sensor leads. At room temperature (~25°C), many Eldom NTCs read around 10 kΩ (check model-specific data if available). If it reads OL (open) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
- Inspect cable routing: Ensure the sensor cable is not pinched or cut by the cover or mounting brackets.
- Replace the NTC: If faulty, remove the old NTC temperature sensor from its well or bracket and install a compatible Eldom sensor. Ensure it is fully inserted into the pocket for accurate readings.
Note: If a new sensor does not clear E02, the fault may be on the control PCB; professional diagnosis is recommended.
