Eldom
Normal Thermal Expansion or Faulty Safety / Pressure Relief Valve
Water drips from the safety valve discharge pipe, especially when heating.

Possible Causes
Normal pressure increase during heating, Defective safety valve not sealing properly, Excessive mains pressure without expansion vessel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: The safety valve is a critical protection device. Never block or plug the discharge pipe.
Steps:
- Determine if dripping is normal: Small intermittent drips during heating can be normal as water expands. Continuous flow indicates a problem.
- Check mains pressure: If building pressure is high (>6 bar), install a pressure reducing valve and, if required by local codes, an expansion vessel on the cold inlet.
- Test safety valve: Operate the test lever on the Eldom safety/pressure relief valve to flush debris. If it continues to leak, replace the valve.
- Replace valve: Isolate water, relieve pressure by opening a hot tap, then unscrew the old valve and install a new Eldom-compatible safety valve with PTFE tape on threads.
