Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Critical safety warning: This involves high voltage and high current circuits. If you are not experienced with electrical work, contact a professional. Always turn OFF the breaker and verify zero voltage before touching internal wiring.
Steps:
- 1. Visual inspection: Remove the front cover. Inspect heating element terminals and power wiring for signs of burning, discoloration, or melted insulation.
- 2. Check element continuity: With power OFF and wires removed from the element terminals, measure resistance across each heating element. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- 3. Inspect terminal blocks: Tighten any loose screws on the power terminal block and element connections to manufacturer torque specs.
- 4. Check for ground faults: Measure resistance between each element terminal and ground. A low resistance reading indicates a short to ground; the element must be replaced.
- 5. Replace heating element: Drain the unit if necessary, remove mounting hardware, and install the new Electrolux heating element assembly. Use new gaskets or O-rings and torque to spec to prevent leaks.
- 6. If elements test good: The power relay/triac on the PCB may be defective. This requires PCB replacement.
Professional help: Due to shock and fire risk, PCB and element replacement should be done by a qualified technician if you are unsure.
