How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker.
Steps to troubleshoot limited hot water:
- Access lower section: Remove the lower access panel, insulation, and plastic cover.
- Test lower element: Disconnect one wire and measure resistance across the element. Replace if open.
- Check thermostat operation: With the tank partially cooled, verify the lower thermostat clicks when adjusted and has continuity when calling for heat.
- Flush sediment: Connect a hose to the drain valve, shut off cold supply, open a hot faucet, and drain several gallons to remove sediment. Close drain, open cold supply, and purge air before restoring power.
