Water heater making rumbling, popping, or banging noises during heating

Safety first: Turn off power or gas and allow the water to cool to a safe temperature before draining.

• Drain and flush: Connect a garden hose to the Giant drain valve and run to a floor drain. Open a hot water tap and the drain valve to flush sediment until water runs clear.
• Element inspection: On electric models, remove and inspect elements for scale. Clean or replace Giant elements as needed.
• Install sediment reduction: Consider installing a whole‑house sediment filter or water softener if mineral content is high.
• Regular maintenance: Flush the tank at least annually to prevent recurrence.
